Check the frame, not just the camera
Look at the background a stranger will see. Remove letters with addresses, a work pass, financial paperwork, and screens showing private messages. Reflections in glasses, mirrors, and windows can expose information outside the obvious frame.
Use a place where you will not accidentally include another person. If someone joins the frame, they should understand what is happening, agree to appear, and be an adult. A camera preview is a useful check, but it cannot prevent someone else from recording the feed.
Decide your boundaries ahead of time
You can decide not to share a real name, social profile, city, or relationship details. A polite “I would rather keep that private” is enough. You can change your mind about continuing at any time, even if the conversation began pleasantly.
Do not accept a request to prove your identity with a document, reveal a verification code, or move somewhere else because a stranger says it is required. No participant needs your bank account or password to have a conversation.
Keep the first conversation low pressure
Begin with a neutral topic and listen to whether the other person wants to engage. A hobby, a favorite meal, or something good about the day gives them a choice about how to answer. Avoid persistent personal questions or demands to turn a camera toward a private space.
If someone declines a subject, move on or end the chat respectfully. Random matching is an introduction, not consent to a particular kind of interaction. Read low-pressure conversation starters for examples.
Recognize reasons to end the call
- A request for money, a password, or a verification code.
- Pressure to share private or sexual images.
- Threats, humiliation, repeated harassment, or coercion.
- A participant who appears underage.
- A suspicious link, download, or demand to install a “camera fix.”
Use Stop to leave. Where available, Report ends the current match and submits a concern. Do not continue collecting explicit material or identifying details from someone you suspect is underage. Immediate danger needs appropriate local emergency assistance.
Understand the sections and controls
Standard Video Chat and Unmonitored Video Chat use separate queues. Unmonitored has an additional warning that you may encounter sexual encounters, nudity, or other explicit content, and it skips routine automated checks. It does not suspend the site's rules or permit minors, exploitation, or illegal conduct.
Next looks for another person; Stop releases this page's active media tracks. If you do not want to be visible at all, text chat is available without camera or microphone access. Learn the device flow in the video chat guide.
What privacy can and cannot mean
No account is required, but a chat partner can recognize you, record a call, or infer details from what you share. WebRTC peer connections can expose network address information. The site also needs technical data to operate and apply safety controls.
Read the privacy policy and safety guide for the broader limits. Choose the mode that matches what you are comfortable sharing, rather than relying on an “anonymous” label.
Adults 18+ only. Confirm the rules before entering. No account required for random chat.
