Random video chat adds a camera feed and, when a working microphone is available, voice. Choosing Video Chat opens the chat screen and asks the browser for device access. Successful camera capture happens before matching, so a device error should not put you into a video conversation without a camera.
Think about what is visible before you begin. Mail, a work badge, a window view, and reflections can reveal personal details. Use a neutral background and check that your microphone is picking up only what you want to share. The text box remains useful if you prefer typing during a video conversation.
Text chat: a different pace
Text chat with strangers works without a camera or microphone request. It can suit a shared room, limited privacy, or a preference for thinking before replying. An opening question about a hobby or a recent film is often easier to answer than a demand for personal details.
Text is not automatically private just because there is no face on screen. Your partner can copy messages or take screenshots. Safety controls and their limits
Next and Stop put you in control of whether to continue a conversation. Where reporting is enabled, Report ends the current match and submits a report. Standard chat can use configured automated safety checks. Their availability and response depend on the service configuration; they are not a guarantee of live human supervision or of preventing every harmful encounter.
Unmonitored video is a separate adult section with an additional warning about sexual encounters, nudity, or other explicit content. It skips routine automated checks.
